Mockery of “Thoughts and prayers.” Don’t underestimate prayer.

You will always hear and see people throwing their anger towards God when evil flourishes. People are so quick to point the finger at God and they feel “righteous” in doing so and claiming there is no justice. I’m here to tell you, there is justice and believe me, it will come. I do understand the anger people feel when they see mass shootings happen and all we hear is “our thoughts and prayers are with you.” I get it, it sounds cliche. But let’s not confuse the real problem here; people don’t pray for these incidents to be prevented and nor do they humble themselves and seek Jesus. If we actually thought about helping people with mental illness, comforting the broken-hearted, redirecting the lost to Jesus and prayed, we would see results. Don’t expect to see results after something horrible has come upon us, pray beforehand.

2 Chronicles 7:14 God clearly says, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

As a people, as a society with such “fervency” to have “justice” and “morality” come back, we need to go back to the source and the ONE who actually is just and Holy. Will there be more mass shootings in this country? We hope not, but evil still roams and Satan is looking to devour someone. We live in a fallen world, a world that rejects Jesus, rejects holiness, rejects truth and is too prideful to admit it. Instead of mocking “prayers” as ineffective, let’s first examine the condition of our heart and our flat out rebellion towards God.  Prayers do work, sincere contrite prayers are heard, and God’s supernatural hand moves when we humble ourselves and seek Him.

For those who are disturbed or surprised at the constant tribulations, take heart like Jesus once said… because He has overcome the world. And greater is He who lives in us than he (Satan) who is in the world. Brothers and sisters, we must come together to pray in unison as the body of Christ.

Our prayers are effective; James 5:16 says, “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” Let no one tell you otherwise and don’t ever underestimate the power of prayer. God can move mountains, change circumstances, change people, restore, comfort and heal. And all of this happens through prayer, a direct communication with the Great I AM.

So today, humble yourselves and pray without ceasing. God bless!
