Faithfulness is an important characteristic that God is looking for in us and the best representation of faithfulness is seen in the Son. When Jesus was appointed to save us, He finished the work until the very end. Another example is Moses, He was faithful in His calling when appointed to lead God’s people out of Egypt. In the same way, God wants us to continue strong in faith and firm until the end.
Why is it important to remain faithful?
- Because sin is deceitful and it easily ensnares us. Sin hardens the heart. Sometimes you wonder why is it that people reject Jesus and the answer is written: they love their sin (John 3:19). They love to wander said the prophet, Jeremiah.
- We have a promise of rest. God promises us to have rest if we remain faithful. When the Hebrews were wandering in the desert, they complained to God even after being delivered from Egypt. They built an idol to worship, instead of remaining faithful to God. This caused God to get angry. If you hear God’s voice to repent today, do not harden your heart. You cannot enter God’s rest with unbelief.
- Faithfulness helps us overcome sin. Through love, faithfulness, and obedience we can overcome the darts of the enemy (Satan) and finish the race set before us. Jesus was faithful to us in the end, He delivered us from death, the second death of being separated from God because of our sin. Jesus is our hope and there is no other name under heaven by which men shall be saved (Acts 4:12).
